Reloading data for 6.5 Carcano

Post by Gunstruck » 15 Mar 2026, 2:37 pm

I'm about to start loading ammunition for an M42 and an M38 6.5 Carcano. I'll be using AR2206 and 123 grain .266" PPU bullets. There is a fair bit of difference between ADI data and data in Nick Harvey's reloading manual, so any recommendations? Thanks.

I use 28.5gn of AR2206H under Hornady's .264" 160gn RN at 2.910" making just under 2000fps.
I haven't seen this PPU bullet but I would probably start around the same area.

I used to load 120g at 30.0g of 2206H and 140g at 28.5 of 2206H. Nowdays I only load 160g RN's. Didn't like the 120's in my M91/38 FC as they would sometimes give feed problems.
