222 Remington loads

Post by Bcnr33v » 25 Jun 2026, 1:15 pm

I am planning to reload some 222 Rem for ab old Brno Fox 2 rifle. It has a 24" barell and 1:14 twist.

I know it shoots well with WIN748 powder with anything between 45-55gn projectiles.

I am planning to load some 52gn HPBT. Given WIN powder isn't available, does anyone have any suggested ADI loads that will be accurate?

2207 is a great powder in the triple deuce i used 22.5gr behind Sierra 45gr soft points and 21.5 behind 50 grain Hornady soft points model number was 2245 culled literally thousands of kangaroos over the 90s with these particular loads and no not hot for a modern bold action .
2219 is also a great powder for the triple deuce .

best accuracy i've had is with 2219 . i've tried others but that's what works best for me . one ragged hole off the bench . mine's a rem 700 , 14 twist , 24" barrel . 50 vmaxs are slightly more accurate than sierra 52gn hp match bullets . slightly :D . the 222 is a brilliant cartridge , hard to find a bad load . try the 50 vmax , or other 50's . that's what the 222 was designed for . my 222 and others i know will shoot the 55vmax quite well also but. i had a model 70 years ago that shot 40 vmax flat as a laser to 200, one ragged hole . that was with 2205 .my rifle's used in 3P field rifle comps . only load from the mag with brno 222's . i knew a fella who busted his extractor single feeding through the top of the action . it'd be getting hard to get a replacement extractor for a zkm/fox brno these days

i use a knockabout t3 223 for the paddock , don't really care too much about scratches or loosing brass with that one :D

i hope you find some of this useful . cheers mate

2207 is a good powder, capable of great accuracy . cause i use my rifle in comps i chased the "best" accuracy. i'm a little OCD :D . save some money and try 2207 first and see how it goes. i just checked my load data , these are safe accuracy loads in MY rem 700 . please work up to these loads safely . the following loads are in fired brass , full length resized cases. new brass may take .1 to .2 gn more powder to get onto a accuracy node

remington brass , BR4 primer , 19.8gn 2207 with 53gn sierra #1400 bullet at 2.127" COL

the above load in lapua brass with 19.6gn 2207 . norma/lapua brass is thicker and has less case capacity.

rem brass , BR4 primer , 20gn 2207 with a 50 vmax at 2.133 COL

my current comp load is lapua brass, BR4 primer , 50 vmax with 21.5gn 2219 @ 2.138 COL

these loads are safe accurate loads in MY RIFLE . please work up to these loads looking at primers and whether they are flattening which is a pressure indicator . i don't know your degree of loading experience so forgive me if i'm making things very basic . a final word is to always cross check data . load data varies quite a bit , and loading advice from the internet can be wrong due to human error . always refer to the powder and bullet manufacturer data to verify . i'm currently loading for 7x57 mauser and data for that varies wildly . hope this post helps , check everything twice when reloading , and be safe
