Don't use 55s, just the 50s. Most of the time, terminal performance is explosive but I have had the occasional pinhole. Maybe 3 or 4 out of some 200 on pest animals.
Using a different bullet now and relegated the Zmax to a target round but that is mainly because I wanted a 40gn round for flatter shooting round on the light bodied pests I shoot.
Dunno if that helps you.

Do you put that down to the projectile or particular shot placement?

Projectile,,, ,well made, mic up the same, weigh up the same,,, ,and cheap....

All in all but the 50 gr is more versatile....with the 223 you can load them up or down,,,, just have to play with the loads....at the moment im running 23gns of 2208 behind the 50 gn projectiles and love the performance.. and I might add the 50 gn is much more easier sourced than the 55 gn...

Hard to say, but maybe. Most of my shots are head shots, always an emphatic result. If i'm not sure about the shot for the head i'll go for the chest. All pin holes have been chest shots, so maybe missed bone or something.

Clean kills still and in the same zone as other shots with explosive exit wounds. Maybe a touch low and missing the shoulder blade. Hard to say.

Maybe try some of those Varmint Grenade bullets if you have to do a lot of chest shots. They seem to turn 'em to mist every time regardless :D

i'm trying to keep the cost down a bit .

anyway they rolled up and i'm not real happy as they have a cannular :o and the they are all out of shape where the ogive enters the lands

i will load some up and have a look on paper but i'm not very optimistic on them grouping in my rem as it's as fussy as a 4 year old at what it eats

Oh... forgot about that.
From memory, that's why i got the 50s when i bought 1000.

Why not send 'em back and get the 50s. I had my 50s shooting pretty good in the end; even out to 500yrds. At 600 they didn't do much good, though.
