I don't claim to be a particularly good shot but I'll try get the bench do most of the work.

Also Berrys make a nice 220gn pill for subsonic use in the 300 blackout, they even call it the 300 Blackout. A lot cheaper than the SubX which is nice. I'll also test these for drop compared to the faster rounds.

It's pretty much rained all year here so far so don't expect results any time soon.

I did a whole project on Youtube for the 220 Berrys Bullet and 300 Blackout called "Project Big Booty".

I will revisit it again for more test data when I get a bolt action 300 BO and a short barrel 300 BO.

I found them to be accurate and good shooting bullets and in fact even if you don't load them subsonic but at higher supersonic speeds, they shoot good too.

Hello all, its been a while since I posted, so I thought I'd drop in and let you know how I went with 130gr loads.

The answer is well, very well.

Using 2207 I have found that, much like with the 125gr loading, you can pretty much run all the way up to maximum case capacity without encountering pressure issues. I have done a lot of testing and found that anywhere between 20-21gr will deliver really good accuracy from my Ruger Ranch. I settled on 21gr which gets me ~2020fps.

Here's where things get interesting. I have been using Atomic29 130gr projectiles in my 308 for a while. They are a monolithic copper projectile with a small hollow point at the meplat, much like a Barnes TSX, that are made in South Australia. I have found them to be accurate and perform really well on deer.

I decided to try them in the 300BLK. I loaded some up and did some 'ballistic' testing. Nothing elaborate, just the good old fashioned line up of water jugs. With how reliant on velocity copper bullets are I wasn't expecting much. To my surprise, I found that right down to 1600fps (about 150m) I was getting around 1.5x expansion and good penetration.

I took some of these loads out to one of the farms I hunt on. Purely by luck on the first outing a young Fallow buck walked right out in front of me at about 120m. I shot him right in the hilar zone and he dropped like he'd been struck by lightning. On processing him I found the projectile had made a small entry, gone right through doing plenty of damage, and exited leaving a large exit wound that was bleeding profusely.

So yeah, I am really happy with this loading as a do all from varmints up to medium game. I suspect it will have the penetration to smoke a Sambar within 150m as well but haven't had the chance to try it yet.
