Ar2206h

Post by bronco93 » 12 Aug 2018, 10:09 pm

I just ran out of my ar2206h. Been using it to reload 223. Now i wanna start reloading the 30-30 and 243. Is this suitable to reload with them?
Cheers

Yeah thats fair enough. I reloaded some .243 with the ar2206h this arvo with the recommended base load. So see how it goes, as long as it shoots half decent groups I am happy. Just hoping I can get away with buying one powder. Not that its really a problem to buy another powder I suppose

I think I have used AR2206H in everything I have, except possibly .38 Special, but including .223 and .243 - I don't have .30-30 yet. It's an incredibly versatile powder.

It gave me very accurate loads in the 243 but the case fill is a bit low. So I have tried other powders they are not giving significantly better results but I feel better.

Ive read that people dont like having the case so empty. Is this a problem?

Not usually, but you can find improved accuracy with the case full of powder.

G'day bronco93,
As to your first query, yes, AR2206H can be used in the 30/30, I used to load AR2206 in all projectile weights up to 170g. Regarding low powder volumes, a very low volume of fast powder can have 1 of 2 detrimental effects, firstly and least, poor ignition due to the powder lying below the flash hole, secondly and very badly, double detonation which can blow your gun up. Those who load fast powders in large cases usually use a filler such as kapok (I use semolina) to take up the empty space and keep the powder against the base. Moderately low volumes are no great issue usually, and those seeking sub-sonic loads can offer more info on that, Cheers.
