Nice new shooter, mate :)

A mate of mine shoots a .260 Rem 700.

120gr Sierra Match Kings for the range where he gets a fraction over half inch groups.

For hunting, with Nosler Ballistic tips he was getting a bit under an inch at 100m.

He's recently switched to Sierra Pro Hunters and is shooting clover leaf with them, so has switched to those for his hunting load.

All the above using 2206. Dunno the exact loads sorry, hopefully the powder and bullet type is still helpful for you.

Hey 1sikxt
I also have a Tikka Varmint 260 on the way and looking at projectile weight to suit the 1 in 8 twist.
Ill be shooting for distance and looking at probably Sierra / Nosler between the 120-140 grn.
What have you found worked the best?

Pull the bullets and stick some SMK in instead?

Someone would buy the lose bullets for a bit of a discount even though they've been loaded once I'd say.

Well that makes one

Bumped into my share who just loaded 100 of the same with no testing then are frustrated they're not accurate.

Couldn't be stuffed doing it properly then get upset when they don't get the best results :unknown:

Pitty, did you get your sporter before the CTR came out or you chose it over the CTR?

well bugger me i figured i would go and see just how far i can push the 260 and well what a surprise

this thing is now in 270W territory albeit some what flatter shooting and harder hitting because of

the higher BC of .552 . not much pressure yet all with easy bolt lift but the last 2 did stretch the case

head a bit........ think i might have a go at 46.5g just to see what groups it will give ....

Hmm, that's quite a bit of cratering at just 46gr to be going higher.

Hadn't heard that before.

Size issues with the firing pin hole is it?

that and a slight countersink around the hole i have had rem700 since the 80s and it started with the ones i have in the 90s

i can get 6 + loads out of all my calls and just neck and no bolt or primer pocket probs so there not hot just optimum there's

a difference
