Ah, 1:8 now makes much more sense.
I'd rather be hunting

Like another thread I’ve commented on, the problem is your bullet jump.
You need about 15 thou off the lands with 243 or 7mm08.
Heavier bullets get too close with COL around 5 thou.
Try less powder and deeper seating the heavier pills to 15 to 20 thou.

Are you saying that I will improve my ES if I I jump the SMK 15 thou and reduce the load? If the ES is 6 fps now, what do you predict it will go down to?

If you are shooting 90 grain pills you might be going a little slow. I would try Short Cut or 2209 and cram the powder in until you get some decent speed and groups out of her. What is a good speed for 90s? 3300 or 3400 fps?

Nowhere near that according to the adi manual. Tops out at around 3200 with a 24" barrel. Mines 22". Trying out a 35.5gn load and a 36gn load and have seated out a little further. Going to be 40° tomorrow so I'll have to wait till Friday to test them. I want to find a load that works with 2206h coz I use it in 4 other calibres

Best to do a ladder test and see what you can get out of 2206. It will be down on speed compared to some other powders. you might be able to find a node down at 35 grains but it is not a lot of powder for that size of case.

Wtf is a ladder test. Sounds like a fancy name for trying different powder charges till you find one that works...

You keep adding powder until you run out of room or you are convinced that you have enough to do what you need. Then fire them at one target, I set the target at 200 but 300 works if you have a calm day. Stop shooting as soon as you notice pressure signs. Look for rounds that cluster on the same horizontal plane, this is a node. Do some load testing around this node.

Book maximum values are a guide, you may find your rifle can shoot safely at different values.it depends on your chamber, brass and other factors. If you have to burn 2206 you may do better with lighter pills.

Good advice SCJ.I am hoping to develop a 90gn target load for my .243 as we are going to a range soon and Brett has a .243.I only have a Howa 1500 with a 22 inch barrel. The range we are going to does 100-600 metres.I will be getting more 2213sc and Berger bullet charts come with a recommended twist rate 1:10 should suit a 90gn pill.I have a standard a load for .243 for hunting using 80gn PSP but am seeking a better group which is always rewarding.45gn 2213sc gives 3010fps which is where I will start.Do you believe faster is better for grouping???

There are a few reasons to go as fast as the case will let you, the BC of your bullet will be higher for longer. The bullet works better when it hits something. For accuracy, it is harder to get consistant pressures when the case is only 2/3 full. If you know how fast you can go and you find a node for example at 50 grains, 3200 fps and one at 47 grains, 2900 fps, I would use the one that is fastest to take advantage of the BC and hitting power.

I use Retumbo or 2225 in my 243, not a powder you usually associate with a 6mm but the 243 is ideal for this slow powder when using 105 or 107 projectiles.

Nice Sendaro in a Cool caliber, why can Remington do such a good job with the Sendaro and 5R but make all their other rifles so poorly.

Thread hijack.Short story on Sendero It used to be hi power/low power here in the 90s and Hornet was the cut off.To get a hi power rifle you needed a lot of land and all sorts of mythical powers. What I did was applied for a damage permit for our Kangaroo problem on our hill block then applied for a hi power rifle. The rifle I chose was a brand new Ruger lightweight in .222 S/S because it was shiny and I am a crow. Then I got in to F-class optical and rolled up at the range to become world champion. The target was 400 metres and my first shot hit the dirt at 250 metres O.K. I wind up scope 6x40 fixed scope stops winding.Next shot I kick up sand under the target. To land on the three foot target I have to hold over 2 feet and am guessing where it is.Probably not going to be world champion today so Monday morning at smoko I go to LGS in Bunbury and look at ballistic charts and decide a 7mm Rem Mag will do 1000 metres easy so I get back to work and the builder asks if I found what I needed and I declared what I needed and the Electrical contractor told me all about the one he built and I purchased it of him and have never looked back

That is why I like to buy used, the rifle comes with a story and someone else ironed out the bugs for you. Nice work.

I tried a jump test today and the results were surprising. It was hot and windy so no personal best groups. I tried a 10 thou jump, 40 thou, 70 thou and 100 thou. Best ES was 12 from 10 thou jump and the worst was 22 from 40 thou jump. Best group was .320 from 100 thou jump but conditions were at their best, worst group was .570 from 10 thou jump but mainly horizontal dispersion.

The bullet was a Sierra Match King don't mind a bit of jump, the thing that surprised me is I lost nearly 100 fps when jumping by 100 thou. I would have thought the speed would have gone up.

What's ES and SD..?? young bucks (YB)..??
Last 40 years I thought SD was sectional density and that don't change ...

ES is extreme spread (i.e. fastest to slowest )
SD can be sectional density, or can be Standard Deviation. When you have a standard deviation close to 0, it indicates that the muzzle velocities tend to be very close to the average, meaning they're very consistent in velocity. A chronograph will work out SD for you.

Yes, SD from a statistical point of view is Standard Deviation. The chrono spits out the stats which makes things easier.
