Reloading for a fee?

Post by inervate » 26 Jul 2013, 9:25 am

Hi all,

Not sure if this is a stupid question, but...

I don't reload yet basically just due to the start-up costs, but I'd like to give some hand loads a go and see how they perform.

My question is, does anyone reload for a price? Are fellow shooters are allowed to do it for others or does that needs a dealers licence or anything like that?

Otherwise is this something dealers might offer?

Cheers.

Some stores do, yes. Though from what I've seen it's equal if not a little more expensive than buying factory ammunition.

You might be best just biting the bullet and getting your own reloading gear. A Hornady/RCBS/Lee reloading kit and tumbler is about $650 or something.

Reloading works out to be about half price or thereabouts, depending on your calibre you probably only need to shoot 300 or so rounds and you'll have broken even on the expense. Anything beyond those 300 rounds is just half price ammo.

Ammunition & Armory Services at Dandenong do I think? No idea of cost though.

Also Mialls at Frankston do, I think its about $75 per 100 + consumables (which I think they expect you to buy from them if they're reloading for you).

IMO lole is on the money. If you're going to be shooting regularly a reloading kit pays for itself pretty quickly. Might be a better path.

Buy your own reloading set.

I think that's the way it's going to go. I'm sure I wont have any problem going through 3-400 rounds in a few months so it pays for itself.

Probably the best option anyway.

Going to my LGS on Saturday for some other bits and pieces so we'll see if someone can talk me into a kit :)
