6.5mm 95gn Vmax

Post by JimTom » 20 Feb 2019, 1:36 pm

G’day Gents

Have a box of 95gn Vmax with which I am going to develop a varmint load for my 6.5 Manbun.
Just wondering if anyone else is using these projectiles and if so which powder have you had the most success with?
I have all listed ADI powders, was thinking about using BM8208. Anyone having success with either BM8208, 2206H, 2208, or 2209?
Any input sincerely appreciated.

I don't own the Creedmoor but I like the 95gn VMax in my 6.5's.
I generally use AR2206H.

I used 2208 in my 260 cant remember the charge but they were scooting along at 3330fps .
I gave up on them as splat factor was disappointing at 300 +

6.5x55mm and 6.5x58mm, they don't shoot great in my other 6.5's.

While we are at it mate, do you use the 123gn SST? I was probably going to stick with 2209 for those.

Shot some in my 260.
47.5gns of AR2209 with oal of 70.7 yielded 3/4 moa at 190m.
I had much better results with nosler 120gn bt - 43.5gns if same powder, 71.9mm length.

I don't recall trying those. I use the 140gn SST, 140gn Interlock SP and 160gn RN, but I'm currently doing load development with the 147gn ELDM for longer range shooting in the 6.5x55mm.

Tried them out today with both BM8208 and AR2206H.
BM8208 was acceptable (under an inch at 100m) however the AR2206H was more consistent and yielded 1/2” groups at 100m.
Plenty good enough for me. Thanks to those who contributed.
