Back to the OP's original query, yes you can pop off primers all day without doing any harm to your firearm. Be aware that they are surprisingly loud but, so if you're doing it in a suburban back yard the neighbours will hear it. It'd kinda spoil your day to have the police SERT team kickin' down your door.....
The pen may be mightier than the sword, but personally I prefer the .30/30 Winchester.

I started de loading, de priming the best of the remaining cases not earmarked for other stuff.
150 cases in total and closer inspection has meant ive tossed 30 or so of those due to being over cautious.

This means I’ve now got 2 bags of 60 x 30-06 brass. So if you know someone who might be doing it a bit tough but enjoys their 06 shooting/reloading - send me a PM with their name and address details and I’ll post one of the bags out. This brass is all ex factory rounds. Majority of these have been fired from factory, resized then reloaded but not fired due to mix up with steyr / sauer.

Firing them off is the simplest method. But it is boring!
So, I had a fair qty of 38Spl rounds that I was given to get rid of. I broke them down & while I was doing so, was pondering on what to do with the primers. I could have just used them but thought it better to start fresh.
Then I thought well I'll be stuffing round for a while to fire them all off so I thought what could I do to make it 'worthwhile'.
Lightbulb moment! I spotted a box of soft earplugs. Squish one up and place in mouth of case. Push in till flush with case mouth.
Load & fire! Bingo! Indoor training rounds.
Hehehe. Had some fun for an hour.
