Diso stu has just sent this link on a DIY trimer. Seems to have some merit IMO. To me the only down side is the entanglement issue with the particular cutter he is using.

Same my whole life, if I need tools to produce something then I prefer to invest in those and learn the skill than purchase waste fill produced on mass.

I also strongly support local small business in manufacturing if I cant warrant the equipment or time to obtain the skill, I’ll happily save and pay 2 to 3 times the price for quality, service, support and future business.

Thats the one. Most people are pleasantly surprised that the local guy runs a reasonable price for the quality of work, too. Hell I love my local machinist, he'll turn around a set of cylinder heads with a throat cut, new valves/springs (provided), new hardened seats, lap and angle job and a hotank and deck... for $700... the pair! Good Lord I can't even begin to say how good that is.

Meantime I'm using the concave bottom on a universal-brand penreating oil can to close the crimp back up on my 12 gauge shells haha.

I’m still manufacturing bullet mold handles. They’ll hold any mold a Lyman handle can and for a fraction of the price.
Pretty sure I’m the only person in Australia making them.
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

I actually use these for pulling bullets. just put the shell holder in the press with no die put round in press and raise ram grip bullet with wire stripper part and lower ram. after a bit of practice you can do it with a couple of tiny nicks in the bullet ...

Just a follow up on disco fitting magnets to Lee scales.

I just replaced theses oblong ones with 4 of the round ones in my Redding scales. Went from 6 to 3 swings of the beam. Three test weights were checked and indicates no change to weights or zero as disco said. Very happy here. Thx disco.

Your comparator on page 1 is what inspired this latest project. :drinks:
I didn't even bother doing my homework, just went straight to 5.5 mm as you mentioned there.
With this new equipment I've discovered that my lee loader isn't quite up to task with regards to seating projectiles to a consistent depth. Iv got variations of .010", most likely because it's not working from the ogive. I'm considering making a mandrel specifically for seating or buying that old press I discovered online today. I've never full length resized so it's probably time I bit the bullet.
The depth gauge showed me two things, my brass is firm in the chamber (definitely should be full length sizing), and I'm right on the lands... definitely need to bump them back a few thou

Was at the range a couple of years back and was watching a couple of benchrest shooters reloading between shots. One guy had an electric toothbrush with the brush removed sitting with his gear. He used it to settle the powder in the case by touching the little vibrating shaft on the toothbrush lightly against each case. Struck me as an out the box use for something that would probably have ended up in the bin when replaced.

I've used a beard trimmer for the same thing.

I knew a chick who had a special tool for that too, it was good to settle charges in everything from .223 to 150mm cannon shells, was shaped like a rocket.
