Dies for 6x45

Post by Rathie » 08 Apr 2020, 8:26 pm

G'day,

I'm about to make the jump into my first wildcat - a 6x45.

Used to reload for 30/30, 22 Hornet and 243 many years ago. However that equipment is long gone so I'll be in the market for new kit.

Where in Australia would I be able to all dies required to expand neck on 223 and the reload the 6x45.

Really looking forward to getting back into reloading. Been far too long.

Cheers, iain

I have expanded the necks of 223 brass in one step using an expander mandrel and Imperial sizing wax as lube. You could do the same thing using the expander ball of your 6mm sizing die.

BRT in QLD can supply you with dies from Forster or Redding for your application.

Or the Qstore.

Thanks SCJ,

Now that I have exercised my google finger - I see that Brownells Australia has a selection.

I’m doing a lot of reading to learn about the process as I have only ever reloaded factory rounds in the past.

PTA done, deposit paid in new rifle. Now the wait begins.

Thinking Allan Swann in Ipswich to do the new barrel and chamber.

I have no affiliation with any shop but I have had brilliant service, and free advice from BRT. They are also close to you.

The Qstore is also in QLD and I have had positive experiences there also.

Personally I would shot at these places even if the cost was slightly more. Good luck with your Wildcat, it sounds like a good thing and will be heaps of fun.
