Why not an equivalent or an ADI powder?

Thanks Oldbloke -Ive seen the ADI table - I have been using AS50N until now but my reading of the table is that there is no ADI equivalent. I can get Blue Dot in Qld but cant find it here in Vic where I am staying for a while.

Hi Oldbloke
Im casting slugs using a mould and sabots from Slugs R Us

http://slugsrus.com/index.html

They list Blue Dot in their load data and thought I'd give it a go. Maybe I'm overthinking it. I get a 3 shot cloverleaf at 50m but lucky to hit paper at 100m

I'm using a HR Ultraslug in 12g. The slug/sabot weighs 500grains. Currently I use 19grains AS50N. I think I was getting better accuracy with roll crimp which I did at first but recently star crimps and accuracy has suffered.

How are your results?

I'm hoping the slugs will be good on Sambar - if I can get close enough :D

I'm also using 19 gr AS50n. Star crimp. 1oz lee slug.

Never checked on paper but a diner plate is in serious danger at 50yards. (Must do that) Yep my plan is deer also. A single 12g can be very versatile with the right ammo.

What sights have you fitted?

If accuracy is acceptable why change?

Hi Oldbloke

For me acceptable accuracy would be pie plate @100 yards. So thats why I'm wondering about different powder. If I can get that i'm happy. Yes sights are something I need to change - I have a red dot but the dot covers the target bull at 100. I plan to pull the Redfield 4-7x scope off my 243 and test it out when the ranges open.

From my very little experience sounds very good to me.

the good thing about using shotgun slugs for deer is that the deer will usually tip over on the spot and plant
it is a big hole that because there is no kinetic shock you will be able to eat up to just about the hole
a double barrel is really good for bang bang very close fast shots

OK fellas - I'll live with that then. Ive just moved from Brisbane to Ballarat and am stoked that you can just get a game licence and wander off into the state forest s and even national parks - ie Alpine Nat Park.

Ive OD'ed on Youtube vids of Alpine sambar hunts during lockdown. What if I drive out to Howqua Hills and camp in Howqua Hills Historic area (when allowed) andjust stalk the open areas and sunny hill faces? Keen to hear your experkiences. Must be heaps of people doing this??
