.310 Cadet Reload Data

Post by mdavey » 27 May 2020, 6:30 pm

HI

I have just started reloading my .310Cadet rifle again and found that I wasnt able to source ADI powder AP70N any longer. I have managed to pickup some ADI AR2205 powder and noticed ADI load sheets dont specify a load for the Black Widow 128Grn heeled projectile.

Does anyone have any data for this powder and projectile combination.

Thanks

G'day Mark,
My current load for 128g heeled is 7.2g of 2205, I use the HRBC .323 bullet in my BSA Cadet and the .317 dia straight 122g cast with 8.0g of 2205 for an avg 1025fps in the Greener, Cheers.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, when I started to look at incremental loads I worked up to what I thought the maximum powder charge for the 128g and it came out at 7.4. Did you try a number of loads before you settled on the 7.2g.

G'day Mark,
I tried a few, with different powder/bullet combinations. I like 5.0g of AP70N and 4.6g of AS30N for the 128g, but seem to get better consistency in most of my Cadets using 2205 at moderate velocity. Lower loads of 2205 seem to burn quite dirty, and 7.2 worked out to be reasonable. For the lighter non-heeled .316/317 diameter projectiles 8.0g of 2205 shot cleaner. I have recently acquired a Westley Richards Cadet which looks like it will only shoot the 128's, so I will use it to try the new powder they are bringing in to replace AP70N, should be fun. Cheers.
