Reloading 6.5 Creedmoor Help

Post by jay76 » 19 Aug 2020, 8:30 pm

Hi all. I reload 6.5 with 2209 and have found that both 6.5s blow a lot of smoke when shooting. No pressure signs. Any ideas

Are shooting competitively ie Fclass or just using 6.5 for some long distance paddock blasting?

Has the powder been sitting around for a few years? Got a bit hot or experienced high humidity at any stage?

I had some 2214 that was getting on a bit, smelt a bit acrid when fired. Still shot very well.

How about a little bit more information.

What's your powder load.
What weight bullet.
Which type of case you are using, the large or small primer type.
Primer used.

You could try changing primers to say CCI BR2's and see if that helps with a better ignition/burn.

The powder load is certainly up there.
