223 Sierra 55gr Gameking Superoo1365K - how do they differ?

Post by Loyal2no1 » 07 Sep 2020, 3:53 pm

Has anyone loaded or used the 223 Sierra Gameking 'Superoo' 55gr 1365K projectiles?

How do they compare to the standard SGK 1365 in 55gr as found in the OSA Buffalo River SGK? The only (physical) difference I can see is that the Super Roo projectile tip looks slightly more hardened/uniformed than the factory loaded Buff River SGK ammo. I've bought about 6,000 rounds which I'm going to handload for my Remington 700 in a Magpul Pro 700 chassis.

Thanks in advance. Richie.

Hi Loyal2no1
I have used both and I thought they were the same (Both packs marked 1365). Both were as accurate as each other.
I have used them in both 223 and 22-250.
In the 223 I found that a chest shot on a grass hopper went straight through, at about 100 metres. It did the intended job, but passes through, so I switched to the V-Max 55gr. I find it did not go through and expended all its energy in the game. Instant to almost instant kills.
With the 22-250, on grasshoppers, my last shots were about 150 to 160 metres away, they dropped them on the spot, but went through again.
I have loaded the 22-250 with 55gr V-max as well and will try them on my next outing.
I mention the 55gr V-max primarily for the fact they expend all the energy in the target and do not go through in my experience.

I think the only difference is the name, I don't think they sell the bullet as "Superoo" in the US?

Are you sure the factory Buffalo river has the SGK loaded. I bought a box that had Sierra printed on the the box. But I pulled the projectile and it was exactly the same as a Hornady Roo Max. It was a Sierra projectile from my visual inspection.

I know they started using Hornady instead of the Blitz king projectile in there other Ammo.

I’ve used both and they look and perform the same. Same bullet, different packaging.
