ADI 1kg

Post by JimTom » 09 Oct 2020, 2:41 pm

Anyone actually purchased one of the ADI powder in the new 1kg yet? Not talking about the BM series that is already available. Have seen it advertised however not in the flesh yet.

Nope, but I have bought some 1kg bottles before.

I picked up some AS50N today but they only had 500gm bottles so I only grabbed two - the price is ridiculous on the small bottles, but it is handy to have some empties to transfer the big ones into.

Still chasing some APS350. I have all the ADI powders except APS350, APS650, APS950, AP100N and AR2218.

BM = Bench Mark 1,2,8208 mate.

Yeah I have had a trip and shot a nice lone boar with it. Is a great bit of kit however I find myself driving around all night by myself whilst everyone else at camp having a beer.

A certain shop in Brissy was advertising the new 1kg bottles for circa $100. Pretty good deal me thinks considering we are getting close to $70 for a 500gm up in my neck of the woods.

If only I had a reason to do a road trip there, kill two birds with one stone. Definitely come home with one or two of everything I need.

Don't know which neck you're in, but I paid $80/500gm today. Hell of a price but I want to support the shop, the extra isn't much if it helps keep them in business. Grabbed two slabs of 12ga. and some cleaning supplies while I was in there. $160/kg is horrendous when 4kg is only about $425.

Yep agreed mate. It is a fine balance between supporting your local so they stay open, and saving yourself some significant amounts of money.
Mate you can get a 4kg or powder for $325 in Brissy.

I would mate. $80 for 500gm is a little extreme. Perhaps our prices aren’t so bad after all.

bladeracer, could I interest you in a full 2kg tin [not placcy bottle] of AS50N, for a good price? Say, 20% under whatever the VRA Shop currently gets for it?

I have big [2-2.5kg] tins of the equivalent burn rate/s Nobel 60 and Nobel 80 to work my way through; so the AS50N is really 'surplus to current and future requirements'.

PM if you're interested...

BTW, there's a newish hunting/fishing shop over in Warragul, In Season Hunting & Fishing, that has reasonable pricing on powders, and a good range in stock. You'd have to check on their ADI prices, but they sold me a 1lb of Alliant Reloder 19 for $82, which is near to MFC's price.

That one's a 'one gun' powder, just for my .338WM. As one of the posters over at AHN says in his sig line, 'when you have a .338, everything's a varmint'.

Edit: For comparison, a 500g bottle of AR2205 @ 'AC' in Morwell was $70, but I reckoned I'd better grab it while it was there.
That's for 'hot' game loadings, of 230gr GC'd CBE Lead/Tin casties in my .44-40 lever.
Plinking/target loads will be the same boolit minus GC, over 5.0gr Nobel 60. Cheaper to shoot than a .22LR...

That’s regular pricing in most Tas stores...$160 for 1kg. Looking back over some 500gram bottles - we were paying $62 in February of this year...$18 increase in 6 months.

Be happy you can get 2209. In regional WA we get f*** all. There was a delivery just this week of 2205, 2207, ap50, aps350 and BM2, but even during a drought it's not that popular.

If it's a "drought" I would buy whatever I can find, then I can either swap it with somebody or experiment with whatever I'm trying to load with it. AR2207 and BM2 are reasonably versatile for rifle cartridges, AR2205, AP50N and APS350 are reasonably versatile for smaller-capacity cartridges, and shotguns.

Ppu Factory loaded Ammo ready to go is less than a dollar a shot. I also bought some Winchester 308 factory ammo loaded with 180 grain woodleigh projectiles, same price And some 22250hornady 50 grain v max ammo same price ....Unless your chaseing super accuracy from home reloads , scrambling for powder is not your only option
