Thanks for that.
I have tried the Hornady SST in various calibres, and I have had the same experiences as you, that at close range they are explosive.
I also had the same issue with the Sierra game changer.
I think those two projectiles are better past 200 meters.
MOST of my hunting is under the 200 meter mark.

then i would refer you to the possibility of the nosler acubond , which is a semi bonded core/ballistic tip . a bit stouter than stuff like game kings or sst's . i had a mate who used 170 sst's in a 8x57 on pigs under 50 meters , total penetration with utter devistation . if the sst's are heavy for caliber you can get the best of both worlds with this projectile . i had very good results in a 6.5x55 that was pushing 2810 fps with 140 sst's . the other projectile of interest is the speer 165 BTSP . affordable , very accurate in a 308 sako i had . i never got to use this on game i'm afraid , but i know people who like them :thumbsup:
