8x52R pressure

Looking at a Frankenstein Lithgow #3 with a 8x52R barrel among other things.
Having trouble finding what sort of pressure 8x52R developed before I buy a hand grenade

Does it actually matter?
I would expect it be less pressure than the .303 cartridge, but as you'll be loading the ammo yourself load it to whatever pressure you prefer..

Siamese mauser barrel on a SMLE; Now that's a combination.
I load for 8x52R but my load data probably wont be of much use as a compressed charge of 2209 behind a 200gr bullet is well in excess of what you should shoot in a No1MKIII; Probably start with 7.62x54r data as its going to be the closest.

Nobody has really cared for the pressure rating of the cartridge because the safety factor of the rifle it was made for is so substantial and the brass is non existent.

G'day Heathen,
The Siamese Type 66 cartridge is loaded to a Max. pressure of 45000 psi, but as bladeracer said the action is quite strong. The 303 however was also rated for 45000 psi so you shouldn't have too much drama, just use starting loads and increase accordingly, Cheers.

Yes, that did make me wonder what brass you'd make them from, 8x56R perhaps?.

45-70 ideally

7.62x54r or 8x56r will work but will be undersize at the head. Will work fine but.

Wow, didn't even think of .45-70. That makes it very easy to load for then.

45-70 is what DocAV uses.
