Looking at all the W's in the MSDS I'd lean toward Winchester.

No, it is not the sme powder, AP50N has the same burn rate but is not the same powder as HP-38. They are made by different companies.

I wonder if people are goin to get themselves into trouble safety wise trying to make some powders work in this shortage dilemma . Not suggesting the op is silly or anything I know bugger all about those two powders . It’s just something that entered my mind

At least a few of us are experimenting with rifle powders in pistol cartridges. No reason it has to be dangerous.

Yes, I experiment a lot with different powders. I have my eyes wide open and all fingers attached.

I have had a play at extraction of powder from 12G shells and loading in 9mm. Each shot shell (mind I only did one) produced approx 18.1gn of powder which at 3.4gn each gave me 5 rnds. 115gn LSWC produced an average of 1070fps. To me at least, perfectly acceptable.

Accuracy at 25M was also quite reasonable.

AS30 & AS50 after all are common enough used pistol loads but the powders were designated as shotgun powders.

Though I admit that it may well not be cost effective. But if it is the only choice, I would call it a viable option (note: WITH CARE).

The big issue is just how tedious it is to extract.
