Is there benefit in using powders of slower burn rate in short magnum cases?
I refer to AR2217 and AR2225 in 270WSM.
Or would I be better served spending time with faster/higher pressure 09 and 2213?

Have a look at ADI's data. Some powders better suit lighter bullets, some better suit heavier bullets, and some powders are more versatile. Surprisingly, they even list a Trailboss load.
Decide what bullet weights you want to play with first.
With 130gn jacketed bullets they list AR2208, AA2209, AR2213SC, and AR2217. But you're using 20gn more of AR2217 than AR2208 for the same velocity so recoil will be noticeably heavier and it will be more expensive to shoot, but it may give you better accuracy.
I would be starting with AR2206H or AR2208 and if I can't get a load that works then I would try something else.
