I use Trailboss in .38 Special, .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum and all other rifle cartridges, and 12ga. shotgun. It's extremely versatile, but velocity-limited as you can only fit so much of it into a case. If the case holds 30gn of a conventional rifle powder you will probably only fit about 10gn of TB into it.
Obie73 wrote:Although I earlier said I was going to just shoot 30-30 and .357 Mag lever rifles I keep coming back to reading up on the ol' 44-40. Americans occasionally mention they load this round with H4198, which apparently is basically the same as AR2207. Some very accurate results are given. However I know not much at all and am just repeating what I think I read somewhere.

H4198 _is_ AR2207, same powder, marketed under Hodgdon's brand in the US. Hodgdon don't make much of anything, they buy products and rebrand them.
I used IMR4198 when I was a kid in the .222Rem. I used it right down to levels that didn't always push the bullet out the muzzle. If H4895 didn't exist I would probably be playing with AR2207 much more.
