2219 in 223? Anyone used?

Post by Rabbithole » 10 Nov 2023, 11:42 am

Hey Team,
Has anyone used this powder, seems very close to 10-x or rebranded H332?
Seems to give some impressive numbers with a lower powder charge.
Just looking for feedback to run in some Rexem's..
It's just for general varminiting.
Thanks Guys.
James.

I have used either 2219 or 2206H as per ADI loading data but have settled on 2206H:

http://www.adiworldclass.com.au/data-ri ... -56-x-45mm

Noting I mostly only target shoot these days.

What I found was the ADI load was very conservative, so further load testing was necessary to get closer to the ADI stated velocities. 2219, 55gn Hornady VMax gave an average of only 2926fps at 22.4gn (measured with LabRadar).

However even the 2206H was a bit slow at the ADI listed load weight. I went as high as 26gn which gave 3298fps, but was a little stiff opening the bolt and I dropped down to 25gn which seemed good and shot accurately. (Tikka T3 Super Varmint).

Hope this is of some help.

AR2219 is sold in the US as H322.
Never tried it myself, I prefer AR2206H in the .223.

I used 2219 in 223. But mainly use benchmark 8308 now. I also have budget load using 2207 and for heavier target projectiles I prefer AR2208 as I find it gives me better accuracy. But AR2206H gives better velocity.

Mate it'll work, of course it'll work. Particularly if under cheap, lighter mainstream 223 pills like the venerable 55gr. Just work with what you can get - beggers can't be choosers right now. Not much 06H around and BM2 is now also drying up. TLDR: Buy any fast burning powder you can get, because ADI aren't currently coming up with much for us...
