Powders for reloading 410 cartridges

Post by richargoo » 24 Mar 2024, 6:24 am

Hi all. having trouble sourcing standard powders for 410 reloading. unable to get Alliant 410, H110, 2400, 296 etc. Just checking the burn rate lists that have been posted (I know this should be done with caution), has anyone used Vihtavuori N120 ? I am loading brass 410 shells & using 7 1/2 shot on bunnies at 25m. with thanks R

Your best bet these days would be using powder from 12ga. field loads I think, and you get primers and shot with it.

I dont know if I'd use scavenged powder from 12g shells. 410 seems to use very different powders. Ar2205 works well

Black powder would work fine.
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.
