357 Maximum Load data

Post by Billo » 01 Sep 2024, 12:33 pm

A mate has been playing with a 357 Maximum rifle recently and wasnt super happy with his loads so I offered to have a crack, Its an interesting cartridge and 1 I had considered building previously on a Martini cadet.

Rifle is a Bergara 357 Magnum thats had a 357 Maximum reamer run in it. Plan is to have a range session next week :drinks:

Anyone had any experience with the 357 Maximum ?

never seen one just read about them and that was just in revolvers a rifle could be some thing that can make it even better.
I have been 357 mag fan for years so I will say there is some lean to it but that would be nice to see if you do it.
what are the powders you are using and like was said what is the twist rate and what are the loads you have worked up so far did your friend keep a log of his loads

Yeah there is a real cult following of the 357 Max in the US, Michael Bellm has been a driving force

https://357maximum.net/

WHen load up with a long throat 180grs Speer FNSP can be driven at 2300fps which puts in into the 35 Rem category and overtakes the 44 magnum :drinks:
