If you look at the Sierra "catalog" (wall-chart) here https://www.sierrabullets.com/2024-catalog/ the 8005 bullet is listed as 30 cal for handgun use ONLY and is a RN (round-nose) type. NOT as shown in the image in bigpete's post, which suggests a flat nose. Shown in Handgun bullets section on RHS of chart.
I guess Cleavers just use a generic picture of the Sierra projectile pack.

Yes, it's a handgun bullet but there is no reason you can't use it in a rifle.

I use 452 handgun bullets in my bushmaster rifle 100 per cent of the time Xtp or speer power jackets

Perhaps 120-130gr sp, chop the tip off to make it a flat point. I do it with a Stanley knife.

Yes might be be interesting reduced load option. 30-30 or 300 blackout maybe- is that where you are going with this Bigpete?

I'm obviously not as knowledgeable as those with a bazillion posts on this forum .... but might not 110 grain SP M1 carbine projectiles do the job especially if one does not get too ambitious with velocity.
