Yeah give a small batch a test run first.

A mate of mine shelled out for a 4kg tub of 2206h (I think it was) then got pretty mediocre results and found 2208 was better for his .308.

Still going through the crappy tub for plinking where it can but it's forcing it really....

well in the beginning of this thread i said bm2 was good enough but i was wrong   while i was getting moa out of it, all the talk of 1/2 moa or better slowly got to me :problem: so i broke and got some 2206h :o loaded up ten rounds each at 26.5,27.0 and 27.5 with a 50 gn vmax and off i went to see what they would do :D 27.0 was the pick of the crop with all groups shooting under moa. the two three shot groups went .5 and .4 with the four shot group blowing out to .8 :D :D average speed 3306 with a spread of 38 so i know im doing my loading right  or at least good enough for me

just an fyi ... the hornady super performance averaged 3282 with a spread of 34

I'm finding the same with the 222. AR2206H produces the best groups. I also use it in the 204 and 308 with great results.

I have found that BM8208 is very good in my 223. BM2 was pretty good but 8208 gives me consistent sub 0.5MOA.

Have some AR2207 to experiment with for a faster burn in my short barrel to reduce muzzle flash (with is quite sectacular at night) but i don't expect it to match accuracy of BM8208. Recon it will be just under MOA but no better.

I use AR2207 for loading 40 and 50 grain projectiles in the 222 Rem. The accuracy is good enough for hunting and it produces very high velocity although AR2206H seems to be the accuracy king in that rifle. One thing I noticed with 2207 is that chamber pressure will spike quickly in the 222 as you approach max load. AR2206H is definitely the more forgiving powder.

Thanks for the tips, HH. I'll keep the loads mild-mid. Will be happy with the first node that produces acceptable accuracy.

i have tried both 2206h and 2208 with a couple of 55gn pill, but i cant match the muzzle velosity of OAS 55gn hornady factory ammo. that said 2206h did group mildly better out of my A bolt II.

55grain super roo projectile + 24 grains 2206h = dead skippy! (With damage mitigation permit of course)
It's not banned in Queensland but you just can't have one!

Hornady use that stuff they call super performance which apparently isn't available to the public. Some people are getting report getting close to factory velocity with 8028X but I cannot vouch for this claim.

I'm loading 50 grain vmax for a 222 using AR 2207 and AR 2206H and find 2207 produces higher velocity while 2206H is the accuracy load.

Benchmark 8208 is worth considering.
