RCBS chargemaster combo feedback

Post by The Brass » 02 Oct 2013, 9:21 am

Hi all,

Like the title says, I'm looking for some feedback on the RCBS chargemaster combo. I have the op to buy one at the moment for $350 new which is a pretty good deal so thinking it might be time to upgrade...

I've been using the standard powder thrower from the Rock Chucker supreme kit which is fine. Bit of a pain in the ass to adjust loads is my only complaint.

Anyone got up from a manual powder thrower to the chargemaster combo, or something similar? Worth the money you reckon?

Cheers.

If you're only ever shooting 1-2 loads I wouldn't pay the money, but if you're regularly changing your powder load I'd say go for it.
Howa 'bout it?

The speed puts me off them :(

Takes like 30 seconds per measure with that last trickle bit, compared to 1 second from a manual thrower.

I was a bit the same.

With a manual thrower I'm used to filling all my empty brass first, then seating all the pills.

With an electronics dispenser if you sat there waiting for each charge while filling your brass 1 by 1 it would take ages.

Filling one case then seating its bullet while the dispenser measures out the next one though would be about the same.

Yes, they're a bit slow, but you can't beat them for repeat accuracy.

If you want to squeeze that last bit of accuracy out of your load I'd go for it.

*nod*

It's a bit of a change to your reloading routine, but not a big deal for the increased ease/accuracy.

Didn't have the hook up on price like OP, but got mine yesterday.

I, looove it.

I'm taking my manual thrower to the range next trip and putting a hole through it.

It may be slow, but solution is simple - just get 2 identical powder funnels, and when 1 is filling - you can empty the other one and if you fast, you can even seat in the in the projectile
