Is this claim just BS?

Post by agentzero » 21 Sep 2014, 7:23 pm

Hi guys,

I found a Barnes bullets advertisement and one of the lines is "handloaded precision in a factory loaded round".

Am I right in thinking that's just complete BS?

Without testing powder charges and seating depth and different bullets and blah blah blah blah for reloading, factory ammo is pot luck really whether it works with your rifle specifically?

BS claim?

It could refer to the precision with which the ammo is made. I wouldn't think they're claiming it will be the best ammo for every rifle, just that they take a lot of care to make precision ammunition

Sounds like they're being a bit liberal in their praise there.

Baldrick's probably hit it, saying it's precision made ammunition.

It would have done better (or been more honest?) without 'handload' being worded in there I guess.

A lot of handloaded ammo is not made very precisely at all of course.

Good point.

Maybe when they say "handloaded precision" they mean compared to the "steve down the road" who doesn't know s**t about shooting and did some reloading once in the shop

They'd just mean it's quality ammo. Which is it so fair enough.

Whatever they're calling it, it'll group in the right rifle.

Good some pics and you'll find some. It's decent ammo.
