.223 Rem subsonic loads...

Post by TikkaT3.223 » 28 Sep 2014, 4:44 pm

Starting to research how to develop a subsonic load for my Tikka t3 Varmint chambered in .223 Remington.

Anyone have any loads that I could try out?

Hey TikkaT3.223,

Did your license finally come through? not sure what you want with these but after all the trouble you've gone through do you think posting this is a really good idea?

Just asking.

.22 Winchester 42grn subs\Z's outta a .22 (beater) anything will solve all your problem mate!

Dunno if it's a change on their site recently but everything published there now is well above subsonic.

2,270 fps MV with the slowest 90gr load.

Maybe they pulled their data for subsonics? Hmm.

I had a look at my ADI manual.

55grain FMJ with 4 grains of Trail Boss = 1074fps.

It does not list a minimum load for trail boss.

I wouldn't bother doing that, cheaper and easier to use subsonics with a 22lr.

Hi Westy.

Nah man, not yet. They want me to do ANOTHER correspondence. No idea what for this time. Still waiting for it in the mail.

My fiancé got her license and pta in the mail a few weeks ago, and im just waiting for the funds to pick up my rifle.

FYI,

A mate of mine had to do a few letters here for VIC Pol and some licensing mix up.

They asked him for a statement from a GP and one himself. He sent those and was told they weren't enough and he needed a letter from a GP, again...

So he did the same thing again and they unsuspended his license.

Just keep jumping through the hoops. All the best with it.

I get the feeling there is a flow chart at firearms registries that's something like.

1) Ask a question
2) Did they give up?
3) No.
4) Go back to 1.

4 grns of Trail Boss behind a .223Rem 55gr Sierra Spitzer I don't have a Chrono but it's about as loud as my old .22LR with standard ammo. Out of my 1 in 9 twist 22" barrel it's below the sound barrier.....no crack!. Accuracy?, my old 22LR was better and it didn't keyhole at 100 mtrs.
