Case Tumbler Lid

Post by Baldrick314 » 09 Oct 2014, 6:58 am

Anyone know where I can get a replacement lid and sifter for an RCBS tumbler?

I got a bit overzealous tightening the lid down and cracked it

I tried eBay, the RCBS site and Brownell's but I couldn't find anything except a full new tumbler

Are you asking about the RCBS side winder tumbler ? I bought a new barrel from Sinclair International . they are about $84 US now + postage.

Only thing is on mine the lid just pushes in no tightening down. So maybe you are talking about something else, maybe a vibrator type tumbler ?

I have never seen any spare lids for that type.

Can you repair the lid by plastic welding it ?

Sorry, yeah vibratory tumbler.

Potentially Cruz82, I don't have any experience with plastic welding. The lid and the sifting screen both have cracks around the center and they flex in when pressed even lightly. I'd say with not much pressure they'd probably break apart completely

I've never used the lid on my vibratory tumbler.

I do however use a mesh container to separate media from brass. Just a tub with slots in it that sits in one without from a $2 store.

I'd just cut a piece of thin MDF and make your own lid, circle with a hole in the middle. You don't want too much weight as it will effect the vibratory action. I use a lid as it keeps the dust down, dust is really bad for your health. Better yet acrylic then you can see the cases

Tape the bottom and epoxy the top? Dry, flip and repeat.

How cracked is cracked?
