Interesting in a half ass sort of way. He might eventually set of a primer , possibly in his face. Patterns with smaller shot would be very ordinary at longer ranges due to the large lump of wax dropping back through the shot column.

A much better system would be to use an over shot wad and then a slight wax seal on that . It appeared to me he poured the wax straight onto the shot. Certainly a way in an emergency situation and firing case life would be way better than a plastic hull . However brass suffers from age hardening ( stress corrosion ) and thin brass is the worst for it. This means that for long term storage of unfired hulls solid plastic hulls will last longer unused than any with brass in the mix. Aluminium hulls are also better at long term storage than brass.

So what this means is if you want some for shooting all the time then the brass would be good. Getting a new batch as the old ones wear out but if you want to put any away for the distant future then get Solid Plastic or Aluminium .

With the right hand tools it would be no issue.

dead right. I use to load .357 magnum shells with one of the Lee handloader sets, I did actually use scales though since I was using smokeless powder where the right measurement is kinda very important

The Lee powder scoop in the straight line set is fairly accurate if it is used correctly. You strike the top surface off against the top edge of the scoop with a steel rule or straight edge of some kind , even a straight knife blade will do . Some people just scoop up the powder and leave it heaped on the top and that's how they get an over load.

"They come with a primer pocket that's setup for a large pistol primer."

"harder to see than a 209 primer" and "2-3 times the price of a 209 primer"

WTF do they make them to take pistol primers for then?

It makes no sense to me either .

It must be to compliment Western action pistol shooters.

In the USA they have Pistol and shotgun competitions.

This is only a guess, but I suspect it's so you can have less types of consumables.

Same as having a 44mag pistol and rifle. Saves you carrying two types of ammo.

This would save two kinds of primers? Only guessing...

(Still not sounding like a great idea to me either though)

I've always gotta have a laugh at these survival things.

Nothing against learning new things and it's all good fun. In reality though if we all had to "bug out" I reckon about 1 in 100 of would actually be able to turn it into survival and last a while

I wouldn't be the one either :D

I one's I really laugh at is the people in the USA who build these huge trucks and 4x4 wagons to bug out in but live in the congested cities. In a real life or death situation the main road will be clogged with traffic and the most dangerous place to be. The best bugout vehicle is a small light 4x4 or dirt bikes with big long range fuel tanks and stay off the main roads and get into the bush as soon as possible .

And driving an SUV that uses 30 litres per 100km.

They mustn't be planning on bugging out too far away

Exactly right , You vehicle will most likely only get you to a place to hold up and then by foot , as there will be no fuel in the bush , unless you have a stock pile some place. Driving around will attract attention anyway.

Food , water and shelter will be the main game , followed by avoiding thermal imaging.

Not that it will do them any good.

They will be able to drive for 1,000km on a single tank but they'll still be useless when they get there
