Full length resizing worth it for single rifles hand load?

Post by Triang » 10 Oct 2013, 7:57 pm

G'day,

Like the title says... Wondering what everyone's view is on full length resizing brass when it's only going to be used in the same rifle?

I've got my .308 and have been just been doing neck sizing so far with my 2 piece die set.

Any advantage to be had with full length resizing after the brass has already been fire formed to my chamber?

Cheers.

Personally I wait untill the shells feel like are getting tight.

Ditto.

If you're cartridges chamber and eject smoothly I wouldn't bother.

When they start stiffening up, then I'd give them a full going over.

If it's just for 1 rifle and everything feeding smoothly you can do without it.

If you end up adding another rifle or two to the collection sharing the same ammo, definitely worth doing full length resizing so everything's consistent between rifles.

That won't last forever though.

If you're buying a new set of dies or something and deciding between 2 or 3 piece set, just grab the 3. You'll want it soon or later.
See you on the firing line.
