Organising your brass for even use

Post by Manimal » 15 Oct 2013, 2:32 pm

Hello all,

I've been reloading for a while now and was a bit disorganised in keeping track of my brass and how many times they've been loaded.

All my stuffs been shot 2-4 times or something and as it get on I obviously need to be checking for split necks and head separation and all that...

Do you guys organise your brass by times shot? Keeping it in reloading batches or whatever?

Or do you just check each case every time for flaws and not worry about how many times it's been shot?

Or something else?

I run mine in batches. and i use kmart plastic food tubs to keep it all organised. 1 tub will be new brass, 1 for once fired and so on. i also have em for dirty brass, primed brass, and also batched in brand of brass.

I check mine brass by brass.

But to be honest that's the OCD kicking in

Organise it into groups to make your checking easier, and check in batches.

If you mixed it all up you'll be checking near new brass all the time needlessly and old brass will slip though.

Do it in groups and if you miss one brass here and there and it gets checked the next time round, it should still be close enough in durability to the rest of the group.
See you on the firing line.

Like above, I have some small stacking tubs from Bunnings.

3 tubs for each calibre and just keep twice shot brass in one, three times shot brass in the next, 4 times shot in the last...

I just reload the least shot brass first and keep rotating around the tubs, and check and trim the brass every 2-3 loads.

Gives me enough room to have about 250 empty brass for each calibre in the rotation at a time.
