Matching weight powder trays?

Post by portph » 26 Oct 2013, 12:34 pm

Howdy shooters,

Don't know if there is a special name for these, but I'm after the powder tray that goes on your scale - either electronic or balance beam - you know the thing...

Question is... Do they sell matched sets of these so you can be using one while the other is filling?

Or it is try your luck?

Cheers.

Well I've never considered it, but as with anything I guess if they're both the same weight exactly, where's the problem.
One could be made from a jam tin it doesn't matter as long as they both weigh the same.

A mate and I both have the RCBS rock chucker kit with the same balance scale.

Out scale trays were something like 20 grains different weight for being the "same" tray.

AFAIK, no.

Best best would be buy two from the same brand for similarity, then expect to have to dremel one down a little to match the other.

That would be a 20% difference or something :(

I guess you can just 'zero' the scale each time.

You wan't to put an equal weight tray on as soon as you take the other off, so it can be filling while you empty the other.

Saves a few seconds per round.

Defeats the purpose though if you're spending those saved second re-zeroing the scale every time.
