well this barrels a keeper

Post by deye243 » 28 Jul 2015, 11:40 pm

i not long had a 260R built on a long action and over the last couple of days i figured

as i do to take it out and find how far i can push it .
The rifle

now for a 260 it is treading hot on the heels of a 270W .

this was yesterdays result ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

this thing is now in 270W territory albeit some what flatter shooting and harder hitting because of

the higher BC of .552 . not much pressure yet all with easy bolt lift but the last 2 did stretch the case

head a bit........ think i might have a go at 46.5g just to see what groups it will give ....

now today-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i went back out today to try and find a spot out of the wind and see if the 46.5g load would group

and nope the wind was switching all over the joint so i just put 3 over the mag3 and this load has

potential if it groups .

load is rem case ar2209 46.5 CCI BM@ primer BURGER 130VLDH primer pockets are still tight they will get 2 more loads tomorrow .

I gotta love the IES of 7, very consistent and if it'll group you're on a winner for sure.

Very consistent indeed.

Don't think I've seen any that close before in fact.

through it's paces , might even shoot my first f class on Saturday if i can make it more than

How extensive/precise is you're case prep for the loads to get that consistency?

Maybe I've missed something.

You said it didn't group very well but on the target you say it's shooting .26 MOA at 304 yards.

You say that's bad?

Or am I misreading something.

thats because it's a different load

yep 1" sticky dots

Bourt wrote:How extensive/precise is you're case prep for the loads to get that consistency?

the only thing i do is deburr the flash hole ..... case prep is for bench rest and you don't start that until you get down around .3 .4

accuracy is in a good barrel not a case .

i have lost count over the years of good rifles that shoot good with no case prep and some even with factory rounds they are out

there you just have to find one or build one just look at the HOWAS and the tikas ........
