Tumbling media before depriming it

Post by Harper » 29 Oct 2013, 2:08 pm

Chatting with one of the guys at my LGS about reloading and were talking about hard media media vs ultrasonic liquid ones.

He reckoned that the downside to solid media was you get bits stuck in the primer hole that you have to flick out, but said you can tumble your brass before taking the primer out so this doesn't happen.

Surely if you never tumble your primer pocket though it fills with crap and wears out 10x as fast?

Just sounds like lazy reloading to me...

I don't know what he's talking about.

Takes all of 2 seconds to flick out a bit of media, if there is even any stuck in there.

Seek advice elsewhere in future IMO.

I SS tumble and only got media in the flash hole across two calibers twice in almost 2 years.

Secondly, I bought a universal decapping die to deprime dirty cases so no crap gets caught in the sizing dies and my primer pockets are very shiney.

I also bought a flash hole deburrer too, amazing how much burrs there are! Clean and uniform.

That's what you want.
What is this "too many rifles" you speak of?
