I had the same issue with my Lee Pro 1000's and tightening up that screw is the way to go. Think I even put a little Loctite 222 on mine as well, but cant be 100% I did. Will probably list the 2 I have in coming days if anyone's after one in 9mm or 38Super.

bentaz wrote:Thanks again mate found that and tightened it right up, have to wait till i shoot a couple off to try it as just before i read your post i deprimed resized the cases i had on the other press. But I'll take your word it works.

Sorted another of the problems I had with it, whichwas the loaded rounds not feeding out of the shute properly. I first tried just tweaking the little wire arm to get it to kick them out sooner so they'd fall out with more momentum but it didn't really help so i bent up a better one, its still not perfect but it works heaps better.

No worries, hope it works out. I have the same issue with the loaded rounds hanging up. I've experimented with spraying small amounts of lanolin on the feed ramp to get them to slide smoother but it's a temporary fix at best.

How many rounds an hour do you think you can put out with the issues sorted?

From my experience with Lee's you can get about 2-300 comfortably per hour. Any faster and your powder charges tend to vary considerably. Individual presses may vary though

bentaz wrote:Yeah that would be about right, any faster and it flicks to much powder out of the cases as it index's, also I'm yet to use the primer feeder on it so that might need some tinkering too as I've heard they can be dodgy.

Keep the feed ramp and priming station clean and the hopper full (replenish as soon as it empties) and you shouldn't have any issues mate. Any powder that spills in that area will cause you grief though

New to the forum (and reloading!) and came across this thread tonight. Very topical as I recently ordered a new Lee Pro 1000 and then realised that I don't have a bench to mount it on! So that necessitated a bench building project, I'm nearly finished so thought I'd throw a couple of pics up. I built the base myself and had the bench top made by a guy who specialises in recycled timbers. The bench top cost me $300 and is recycled Bluegum from an old Queenslander, with a couple of coats of oil it almost looks too good for a work bench!

Appreciate the tips on making the Lee press operate smoothly too, will see how I go when it arrives.... eventually!

Cheers.

I better not show my office off. Yes the office at home, carpet and all……….

The Mrs was not impressed at first but it is an ammo factory……. ;-)

Modem, laser printer, Hornady single stage LNL press and a Dillon 650 with bullet feeder and all the stuff. :-)

There is a fluro pretty much above the bench, it is slightly behind me when I'm at the bench but with the light spread being so wide I don't feel the need for additional lighting. I can easily see inside the cases to check powder loads, etc so that setup might do me for the moment. I'm still waiting for my Lee Pro 1000 and got fed up with them not being able to tell me, even approximately, when it will be here so I went and bought a single stage press to get me through in the interim.

Hollywood…….THAT IS A NICE BENCH :drinks:

Yes the boss was not exactly happy at first, but I did ply take up the far end of the desk in the office. She now appreciates it :friends:

I did compromise by tucking the single press around the corner. Worked out well.

Flying them is my job and I do a bit of paint design on the side, the pics are schemes I've done.

Getting back on topic, once people have ironed out the niggles in the Lee Pro 1000 do you find them to be a reliable press?

Reloading benches !!!
"and I already wish it was longer. :unknown:"
More bench space is better,
Great job on building a solid bench, my ideal reloading bench would be hewn of granite or made of solid cast iron, neck sizing is not too bad but when full length resizing a weak bench robs the arm of consistent "feel" between the die and cartridge case.
I have a very solid steel bench in a tiny little tin shed under the carport, 3m x 3.5m and have to bolt and unbolt presses to free up bench space and hunt for gear amongst all the other bloke stuff, been doing this for 17 years.
Bought a new house with a 6m x 9m brick shed, moving in end of May, cash surplus from the previous property will allow me to buy enough timber benches to line the walls.
I reckon 9m will be OK for offhand target practice with my air rifle also, spring piston air rifles are bloody hard to shoot well.
