G'day all,

Just a quick heads up about the difference between these sites.
(Because, I'm a newbie, and I didn't know until this morning)

I've got a Dillon Square Deal B.
Through 2 separate, but equally "special" events, I broke 2 small parts.

I contacted the .au site.
I got a reply that said they didn't have 1 part at all. They offered no other solution.
The other part (about $5) was included in the $35 spare parts kit plus postage.

I then contacted the American site.
Wow!
They answered my email regarding postage costs, by saying both parts were already in the mail. All under warranty.

Ummmm, as the "Australian Retailers of Dillon Reloaders", I would of thought they might of told me about the warranty?
Instead of trying to make a buck.
I've let the American site know about this.

Anyway, just to let you know
(Thats enough venting for 1 day) :)

Welcome to Australian retail and customer service.

Unfortunately we are still a long way behind the USA when it comes to customer service and too many Australian companies see its customers as an inconvenience. There are some very good companies though and I'm happy to support them.

Stu,
Where was the press purchased from? NVT in W.A are the authorised importer of Dillon in Australia. There is another company on the east cost that's importing them and bypassing the authorised importer. NVT are not required nor are they obliged to provide warranty on these grey import products which is why you may have gotten the response you did when contacting them for support. If you did purchase a legit import then shame on the importer for not helping with your issue. Good to know that Dillon in the U.S stepped up and will look after you. I recently purchased a XL650 and made sure to buy the optional spares kit though as yet I haven't needed it. I'm of the mindset that when I break something I'll be 2-3 replacements so I don't get stuck again waiting on parts.

Hi,

Yeah, I did buy it from the East Coast shop.
But I was never asked where I purchased it, by either site.

I never said anything about warranty to either site.
I asked for prices and postage.
(It was my stuff up, I expected to pay.)

I even asked the AU site if I should go to the US site if they didn't have them. I got the reply above.

Also, buying the Spare Parts Kit would only have fixed one of my problems.

From "The" reseller, that was just crap service.

The grey market importer you purchased from has a very poor reputation for customer service. It's against the rules of the forum to name and shame but safe to assume they're in your home state.

Which part did you manage to break? Curious, just in case I find myself in the same position.

huh?
your on the wrong end of the stick...

I never asked the supplier for warranty.

i asked the au site for 2 parts. they said the couldn't sell one. the other only came in a pack of parts. $4 bit, $35 pack.

I then went to the USA parent site....I tried to buy the parts...they sent me an error email, saying they sent them to me free.

why didn't he AU site tell me that?

Ah....just realised you didn't contact the shop where you bought it from (lucky cause they're not overly responsive to anything). I'm not surprised that the Aussie distributer didn't help as they haven't be overly helpful with me either. Good you got it sorted and contact me if you break anything as I have a number of spare parts and might be in a position to help.

Bugger....seems the 650 is a different part 21381

Not all is lost....give HPGS a call tomorrow 02 9620 1313 and ask to speak to someone in the reloading sales area. They have a box of Dillon parts on the bottom of the shelf next to the dies and ask them to have a look through it. I had a look through it the other day and there was all sorts of 550 parts, I didn't see the part you're after but I wasn't looking for that part. You might get lucky :)

I think we need a new term for that here.

"customer minimum-effort-required" perhaps.

Brett,
Thanks for the heads up about HPGS, unfortunately they didn't have one.

BUT, they asked if I wanted to have it ordered in.
(just it, I wasn't been forced to buy a bag of things I don't need).

Even shops that aren't the "Australian Retailers of Dillon Reloaders", offer better customer service then DillonPrecision.com.au.
