12gauge subsonic loads

Post by Mick375hh » 23 Dec 2015, 8:39 pm

Does anyone have loading data with Australian powders for creating a subsonic 12gauge round
I shifted closer to town and these Indian minors are giving me the s**ts and rat shot in the 22 are not doing the job.

Some good info here, some loads included (but for slugs) should give you a few ideas, also about shot size when reducing velocity..

I dont think ADI have any subsonic loads online, maybe you've already checked...

I take it sub 22 rimfire and air rifle have been ruled out due to overshooting??

Lets us know how you go, I have never reloaded for sg, but are interested nevertheless

Those FX air rifles look like something out of Deus Ex or Star Trek. If I had a spare 3000 bucks handy I'd get a 30 cal Bobcat. Not sure what I'd use it for, myna birds maybe.

I recently read an article about 12g shells cut down to 1 1/2" or 2". May have been in an old magazine. I'll see if I can find it
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

Aguilia packages 2" minishells, not sure if they are shipped over anywhere here in oz but LGS had something which similar to them one time. They cost around the same as the standard 2 3/4" packs.

There is some ADI data for sub-sonic 12gauge loads, it is in the single action cowboy data at the end of their downloadable pdf:

And remember that if you find data from a US site that uses Hodgdon Clays or Universal, these are re-packaged ADI AS30N (CLays) and AP70N (universal)

I'd reduce those loads a smidge too, theyre close to sonic, and even supersonic with the right conditions...

You might be better off just getting normal birdshot and discussing a time to use it with your neighbors. Have done that in the past and worked out well. Even got one of them into shooting
