Post by Gunner » 28 Dec 2015, 10:48 am

I have heard tha it is possible to use a FL die as a neck sizer by just backing off the die in the press. Any comments please?

Yes but you have to adjust the decapping rod. Then when you want to FLS, you have to re-adjust back to where everything was.

Get yourself a Lee Collet die mate, you can neck size properly then with no frigging around with with extra adjustments.

Quite possibly the best advice you'll get on this subject.

Not me, I just put a thin brass washer under the die. Don't change the de-capping tool either. Works for me!

Yep, I guess you could call it "semi FLSizing" :D I think the washer I made is about 20 thou of an inch.

IMHO too much stuffing around when you could just buy a neck sizing die for $40 and have both ready to go.

I've just ordered .177 neck die set, had to go simplex as no RCBS in country, $125! ( everything pricey as not common anymore)

Peanuts in the long run though as dies will last you forever.
