Looking for neck sizer or Lee Colette die for 7.62x54R

Post by juststarting » 14 Jan 2016, 10:17 am

Just wondering if anyone knows where I could find a neck sizing die for 7.62x54R (Mosin) ?

Either online or in Melbourne. Alternatively, happy to buy second hand if someone is keen on selling.

Cheers

You can use a Lee 303 Brit collet neck die. I don't believe you can get one specifically for the 7.62x54r.

I don't think Lee make one. I could only get the 2 die set when I bought mine

Since its just the neck sizing, wouldn't a Lee .308 {7.62x51) collet sizer do the job properly, or is there some other difference in the casing other than extra length & rim?

7.62x54r takes a .311 projectile.

Bah! Will just get the full length dies and be done with it then. Seems like everything else is a bit of a chore.

You'll need the full length dies anyway so pick them up when you can.
Looking into my crystal ball I see a SMLE in your future and many other interesting letter/number combinations 8-)
Then you can get the Lee 303 Brit 3 Die set and use the neck sizer for both.
There's the excuse to start looking for your next gun.

I am going to get full length dies regardless, just good to have them... Neck was just too make my fireformed brass least longer, but bergers can't be choosers. I did however find that rcbs makes them, hunting one down in Australia though may be a challenge.

Re: Enfield. That was a choice actually. It lost to Mosin on couple of historical aspects, but who knows what the future holds, it was a military high powered assault rifle in its day after all.

"hunting one down in Australia though may be a challenge."

You should be able to import dies without any drama if it comes to that.
