32.40 Brass.

Post by Hardcast » 01 Nov 2013, 4:01 pm

Does anyone have, or, know of any, genuine 32/40 Brass for sale.

I have resized from 30/30 and 38/55 but not happy with the quality of the brass and lost a few in the process.
Would really like to get hold of the real McCoy.

Thanks Hardcast.

Bit of a stretch here, but...

Midway USA new Winchester 32-40 brass on their site - http://www.midwayusa.com/product/434686 ... -bag-of-50

I read that http://www.shooters.com.au/ is an Aus distributor for them... They could order for you?

Nothing on their website but maybe drop em an email...

Resizing brass is something I'm keen to give a go, what goes wrong exactly that you lose them in the process?

Even ordering internationally, with the exchange rate the price is the same, and brass is not a restricted import right?

Resizing is ok, scrollock, but the particular brass that I am using seems a bit brittle these days, even after annealing, they seem to become hard fairly quickly.
There aren't a lot of brands to pick from in 38/55, and the 30/30 end up a bit short, when you need every bit of length you can get for black powder.
I get a bit impatient which doesn't help.
38/55 down to 32/40 is a tight squeeze, literally, and too much lube or not enough lube can make a huge difference. Once the cases are creased from too much lube there seems to be a soft spot and they don't last long. I do think it's more that the cases are rubbish.

Lorga, thanks, I have dealt with Midway before, but last time I tried for 32/40 they didn't have any.
I'll try again. thanks.

Every time I got into one of my few LGS I looked for this ( and others ) for my growing brass collection.

Never seen it in a year of looking :(

Online will be your option I think too.

Yep, Bertram will do them, hoping to get some cheaper than they want to make them up.

Apparently every so often Winchester do a run, but only the yanks would get them.

I had .222 Rimmed made up, or they may of had them in stock already, 8 years ago, and they were $1.00 each, minimum of 100.
Some of the rarer and or bigger calibres go at $5.00 each.
I think the 32/40 are $2.00, but have had trouble getting hold of Bertrams lately.
There seem to be a few dealers advertising Bertram Brass nowadays.

5-6 whole cartridges worth for most people.

Really though I suppose you're paying for labour, not brass...
