Looking for bench.

Post by Gazza1984 » 04 Mar 2016, 9:30 pm

I have bought a rcbs rock chuckler supreme. I am now looking for a bench for a REALLY small room. I have no facility to make one. This would be ideal for me but I can't get it delivered from the US. http://www.thec4m3ron.com/commerce/show-cart Anyone know of something similar or something that I could use. Thanks.

Link is dead, it's to your shopping cart, not product.

I managed to trick up a saw horse bench when I was living in an apartment.

Bought the saw horse and 2 pieces of thick pine.

Mounted the press to a block of wood and then had the timber held in place by the saw horse. Two pieces of timber, one as the bench and the other mounted at 90 degrees to slip into the saw horse. Like a T shape. The saw horse was a cheapie fold out that you can purchase from Bunnings.

I was using the Lee 1000 then and it spat out 1,000's of 9mm, .357mag and .45acp without any drama (apart from the Lee powder thrower chain that broke). I've since moved onto a Dillon 1050 and solid timber benches that you see.

Lee makes a press stand also (3 legged job) that might hold your press?

Camo version for reloading in the field??

Gazza, if you're switched on enough to safely reload, then surely you could knock something up, couple of trips to bunnings, bit of timber, some hardware.....custom designed for your own confined space...

Sounds like a funny press. Does it giggle the ammo out?

I love this idea. Every time you go to the dunny, you come out with a few freshly loaded rounds.

On a more serious note, how tiny is this room? That lee tripod thing might be OK, but you would need to add a lot of weight. Probably the same issue as a lot of small commercially available benches. You really may be best knocking something together yourself. If it's a matter of tools and work space, do you have any friends with a shed you might be able to use for an afternoon?

Look in 2nd hand shops for an old school office desk. Some of those things are built like a tank!

Mate, i chain sawed one into bits to get rid of it before moving to Tas. The thing was old, screwed and not worth the effort to restore. It weighed a ton and would have been perfect for a loading bench.... as long as you live on the ground floor or have VERY large lift.

Time to hit Ebay. I picked up a solid wooden desk for $25. Works just fine.
