can you fit gas checks to projectiles without a gascheck die?i wondered if you can tap them on with a hammer.Thanks

Short answer I think is no.

Old style gas checks were not crimped but were lousy for separating from the projectile during firing/flight and disturbing them, turning everything into flyers.

Hence they came up with crimp-on gas checks. Which you'll need to do with a die.
