Can't find a five but I found a ten cent piece.
87.00gn.
I'm amazed it's exactly 87.00gn but I don't have any others to give you an average.

It's a 1969 if that matters.

I would think weighing some bullets would probably be more consistent :-)

I've got 150 gn projectiles and the lee measures up to 100
My 2014 10c pce weighs 87.5 grains according to the scales so all things being equal and allowing 45 years wear I reckon the lee is accurate enough for me

Consistency is more important than accuracy.
You want a scale that measures every charge within a tenth of a grain or so, doesn't really matter if it's giving 50gns or 48gns if you're loading for accuracy and working to pressure signs.

no. Its an indicative mass, with a tolerance, that will gradually reduce, ever so slightly over time.

Not to be relied upon to calibrate your toothbrush :unknown:

The Lee beam scale, despite being plastic and cheap, is actually surprisingly accurate. It's a bit fiddly to use and get used to though. As stated above, consistency is the key. I don't use one but have set up a couple of friends new to shooting/reloading who have bought the Lee Challenger kits. I checked the Lee scales against two of mine, beam and electronic, with check weights and found them to be spot on. Value for money, I reckon you would be hard pressed to beat those kits.

By virtue of design, it's virtually impossible for a balance beam scale to be anything but accurate.
They're okay for throwing charges to a set weight, but they're fiddly if you want to know the weight of something.

I was commenting on the actual calibrations marked on them. They checked out spot on.

On my Gempro 250 Scales, as pictured above, one 5c coin weighs 43.90gr and another 44.30gr. I only have two.

On a more consistant basis, 1 Granule of ADI AR2208 Powder weighs 0.02gr so 5 granules = 0.10gr which I have tested hundreds of times.

This is at my location about 1,000 metres above sea level, if you are at a lower altitude your measured weights would be ever so slightly more.

There are a number of places you can buy certified test weights for checking scales. I think mine came from BRT.

Just zero the scales. Then use a weight to check . The weight should be within the scope of what u weigh. Say from 55 to 180 gr.
Any weight will do. I use a ss bolt. Consistanccy is what matters for us.
