Should pretty easy to machine a roll crimper to go on the end of a drill, if you have a lathe, think might buy some steel and give it a go just gotta work out best dimensions.

Yeah, I read the Lee slug instructions and they say use a normal crimp.

I've been loading the lee 1 oz solids for years with a standard crimp as they advise in the instruction that come with the mold. Never had any dramas, quicker than roll crimping or sealing with wax.

Glad to hear that. My Lee 1 oz slug mould arrived last week. Just gotta find time to cast a few now. I think a 32gram wad looks about right. Should give a good 8 star crimp.

Come to think of it. Do you need any filler around the nose of the slug?

Reviving an old thread. I plan on casting a few slugs. I already have the Lee 1 ounce mold. Have a 7/8 ounce mold and Lee 20lbs melting pot on its way. I've loaded a few trap loads before. But I'm pretty new to shot gun reloading. I'm thinking I'd like to buy standard trap loads and replace the shot with the slug. Will be interesting to see what kind of accuracy I get!

I was planning on just doing a normal crimp. Had a bit of look at roll crimpers. Any idea where I could buy one in Australia?

I got a simple roll crimp drill adapter off Ebay.

Thanks I had seen that one. But out of stock. I tried searching again and got a few more hits. Some from Russia? And a Australian made one for $55 posted. I'll try casting a few slug first and see how I go.

Just try the 12 or 6 star crimp first. Works fine if the height is right. (might need card wads to get it just right) If you're not happy then try the roll crimp.
