GDay all
Has anyone had any thing to do with the Hornady ELD match bullets? A bloke at the range shoots them in a 6.5 Creedmor , he has recommended them for a .260 Rem for F class, hope to try them tomorrow.

I have the 162gn ELD-M and ELD-X in 7mm but I haven't had a chance to test shoot them yet.
The M is slightly shorter than the X - 1.4255" to 1.478".
The 175gn ELD-X is 1.567" so I'm not convinced they'll work in my 9.5"-twist 7mm-08 as I'm going to struggle to push them much harder than 2400fps. That's a 7mm bullet that's 40mm long! I'll try them after I see what the 162's can do.

I don't know which type the LGS has I will try either. Have a shoot tomorrow @ 500 I will use the SMKs. Load some A max for load test/development for Sunday. I will post results then.

The M is the match bullet which I would expect to be the more accurate of the two, and it's BC is higher.
The X is the hunting bullet, it loses some BC in exchange for terminal performance.

Thanks for that. I would hope the LGS has the m as the guy who runs it is the local club captain and a keen F class shooter.

I would've thought F-Class shooters would be using monolithic VLD's?

I don't know what most guys use only one guy uses the A max he shoots consistent high scores . I shoot SMKs before that Nosler custom comps. Try these for something different. See how they go.

Keen to know how these go as I'll probably be moving to then soon as the Amax is no more!

Blade. Of the dozen or so fclass shooter I know, none of them shoot monolithic bullets. I'm sure there's some that do in f-open but f-standard is very restrictive of what you can use.

When I manage to shoot some tests I'll post what I think of them.
That's cool, I haven't seen an F-Standard Class shoot.

I shoot f-open because I don't like having to use exactly the cartridge, bullet, powder that f-standard dictates. Im not really competitive because I don't shoot enough and I take it pretty casually.

Both standard and open are basically but open has fewer restrictions on rifle and ammo.

If I do decide to try F-Class I'll shoot Open as well. I want to hone my field shooting with my hunting rifles, not be competitive against target rifles.

Exactly my theory... It does get addictive though. I'd love a dedicated target rifle and a carry around hunter but reality is I can't afford it right now so I have a hunting rifle that you can't carry very far to use as a target rifle that isn't all that competitive!

We are starting up a hunter class version at the club this year for people to just have a go and for practicing with your hunting rig with no 30" bull barrels and Barnard actions with two thousand dollar rests......

Hello Gwion & Bladeracer
Picked up the ELD match in 6.5 140 grain, started loading 10% below max with a 10 thou jump. First problem too long to eject unfired rounds it will just fit into the mag not that it matters single load for fclass. I can always press the bolt release on the firing line. I didn't get a chance to test today, shooting 500 yard fclass not my best score but acceptable, usual wind gusting at 20 knots. I was going to bench rest test tomorrow but I have been offered a trip to the city to go to the shot show. I will try to shoot next week and let you know how they go.
Regards
