Cannot be shipped to Australia !

Post by colinbentley » 22 Oct 2016, 8:55 am

I spend considerable time surfing the net looking at gun related products. I get really annoyed when I find something I want to buy, usually at a very good price only to find that it can't be shipped to Oz. Recently I wanted some Wipe Out Barrel Cleaning Foam. I've used it in the past and it is brilliant but can't find it in Australia. So found some in the US but with a rider "Cannot be shipped overseas" But never one to quit easily I persevered and finally got some in the US. Don't understand how they can ship it and another company cannot.....mind you it was damned expensive.....$80........ouch!

G'day colinbentley,
All to do with the sellers knowledge, or lack thereof, of Customs and postal rules. US regulations in particular are a nightmare, with DG, Itars etc, most sellers just throw up their arms and say, "Stuff it! No International!" As a collector of bayonets I run in to this more often than not, especially with ebay, as most sellers look at them as "Gun Accessories" which are restricted for International rather than simply "bayonets" which are not restricted. As you found out, you just keep looking for that one seller who knows what he is doing, Cheers.

You could use a service that receives items in USA and ships them out internationally, but it may not be worth it. For big ticket items, this is a solution.

Mongrel,

I have used a few times for various items. Yes used my cc card for it. Infact i had topped up my account about 12 months ago and hadnt used it.

Lee precision dont charge for replacemenr parts in the US they only charge for shipping. I have 31 pieces of spare parts(springs, screws, wire etc) coming for $9 shipping to shipito and $24 to ship it here.. :)

I havent used them for actual firearm parts, i tried last year but the firearm shops knew it was a freight forwarder and refused to ship it.

Everything can be shipped for the right price and the amount of paper work.

I'd say everything can be shipped for a price.

It's rarely "right" coming from the US.

It's been a while, but I have always ordered my lee stuff directly from Lee because I found them to be the fastest. Has something changed recently?

Nope...

As I said, they will send replacement parts to USA residents for free. All they pay is postage, I guess it's a life time warranty

So I picked up about 40 different parts and it would have cost $70 +shipping.

Using shipito with a USA address it cost $32...
