30.06 155gr Berger bullets what powder do you use

Post by bones-350 » 25 Nov 2016, 12:13 pm

Anyone using 155gr Berger pills in SPS 700 Remington 30.06.
Just wondering if anyone else is using 155gr Bergers and what powder works best for you.
I like to hear experiences people have with powders.
At last an Ozzie site....
No more reading U.S. postings with powders we don't have down under.

A number of their powders... are actually our (ADI) powders... so their info might even be relevant ....

Just to make it a smidge easier for you, you obviously need some tips on finding stuff on the interwebs :sarcasm:

in that weight 2209 is very hard to beat 2900fps should not be a problem if you know how to hand load .

Thanks
I have been using AR2208 for the 30.06 and think this rifle should be able to give at least 1MOA at 100 yds
I use Forster Dies, LeWilson Micrometer Trimmer, Lyman Flash Hole Debur, and Sinclair Primer Pocket Uniformed.
I have a .223 and a 22.250 also.
Using the above equipment, with individual Foster Dies of course, both rifles give me 10 cent groupings at 100yds.
I have gotten 5 cent groupings but only if I concentrate.

With 155gr bullets your in the middle where a few potentially suitable powders overlap.

2208 was a sensible starting point. 2209 is definitely worth trying and may be better, if you go up to heavier pills you'd probably be best with this too.

As always, need to find out what works in your rifle, blah, blah, blah... But 2209 is a common favourite for the 30-06
CZ 550 American Safari Magnum in .416 Rigby

Other puny calibre rifles... What man would want you now?
